Summary: Kurt meets up with Dave before taking Jamie to daycare

*

Jamie was asleep and Kurt took the moment to study his daughter. Right now she was dressed in a pink onesie and a pair of booties Kurt had knitted himself during the last few weeks of his pregnancy when he’d been prescribed with bed rest. Due to his high-risk pregnancy he’d had nothing to do for a fortnight but teach himself how to knit and make outfits for his daughter.

Jamie yawned, her little face scrunching up and wriggling in his arms to get comfortable. As he looked at her face he found he was still amazed at how much she looked like her other father. She had Kurt’s eyes and nose, but the rest of her was completely like her other father when he was a baby.

Kurt looked up to see Dave making his way up to him, the pink baby bag he had slung over his shoulder a stark contrast against his letterman jacket. “Hey,” Kurt greeted and a second later Jamie woke up with a small cry. “She knew her papa was coming.” Kurt told Dave, looking from Dave to Jamie with a chuckle.

“She loves her papa, that’s why,” Dave teased, leaning down and kissing Jamie’s forehead. “Don’t you baby?”

Jamie waved her arms slightly, before resting her hand against Kurt’s collarbone. “And she doesn’t love me?” He asked, resting his free hand on his hip.

“Of course she does,” Dave replied. “But that’s because you’re the one that feeds her. She loves me because-”

“Because you make her play video games with you?” Kurt asked, raising an eyebrow. Though he wouldn’t admit it, he’d found it adorable when he’d come home from grocery shopping to find Dave sitting on the lounge playing video games with their daughter sitting on his lap. Before he’d chewed Dave out for it he’d taken a picture of it and now it was the background on his phone.

“Don’t think I haven’t seen your phone,” Dave replied and Kurt blushed. “Are you dropping her off to daycare or do you want me to do it?”

The daycare program at the school had been something they’d taken advantage of right away. The program meant Jamie was close by if anything happened but could make new friends and they could go visit her whenever they wanted. It also meant Burt and Carole didn’t need to take time off work to look after Jamie while they were at school. It was a win/win for everyone involved.

“I can take her,” Kurt replied, reaching over to take the bag from Dave. “I know you wanted to see Azimio before class so I’ll take her. Say goodbye to your papa,” Kurt told Jamie. The little girl didn’t react but Kurt grinned at her anyway. “See you later.”

Dave grinned at him, before leaning down and kissing Jamie’s forehead again. “Love you little lady,” Dave whispered, before pulling back and pressing a chaste kiss against Kurt’s lips. “Love you.”

“Love you too,” Kurt replied as Dave turned and walked away to find Azimio. When Dave was out of sight, Kurt looked down at their daughter again. “Come on, little lady. Let’s get to class.”
